Nuri Avidov

A conscientious artist portraying subtle beauty

Nuri Avidov is an Israeli artist who has created a welcoming footprint in todays art world, that is refreshing and moving. The series of Mandelas that she created stem out of her love and passion for nature and natural material that she forms and shapes into her art work.

Mandalas were created over the years by different cultures and for a wide variety of uses and intentions. This might explain the different applications and circumstances for which they were used.

For example, the psychoanalyst Carl Jung saw the mandala as “a representation of the unconscious self,” and believed his paintings of mandalas enabled him to identify emotional disorders and work towards wholeness in personality.

According to the psychologist David Fontana, its symbolic nature can help one “to access progressively deeper levels of the unconscious, ultimately assisting the meditator to experience a mystical sense of oneness with the ultimate unity from which the cosmos in all its manifold forms arises.”

The selected works are situated outdoors to complement the natural beauty of the landscape and enhance a sense of tranquility and harmony.

Mandalas

Avidov’s Mandelas are related to different themes and natural materials that she chooses to explore while creating movement and lightness in her work. These mandalas range in sizes from very large mandalas that measure over 1.5 meters in diameter, to smaller pieces that can be as small as 20cm.
